It is becoming more and more obvious that scientists need to involve themselves in government in order to advocate for science that will lead to better quality of life for those around the world. In order to accomplish this, knowledge of the workings of government, of how to communicate ideas effectively and how best to advocate for science is critical. This symposium will bring together some of the most important advocates for science in Canada, including Mona Nemer, Canada's Chief Science Advisor; Marc Fortin, COO and Vice-President of Research Partnerships, NSERCJosephine Tsang, a community engagement specialist at TELUS Spark, and L.C. Campeau, head of process chemistry at Merck
